Text Box: Linda Lee is the fulltime Entertainment Coordinator and House Musician for the world-famous Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, Michigan since 1991. She is also their “goodwill ambassador,” promoting German hospitality wherever she goes. In addition to her regular Bavarian Inn Schedule, five days a week, Linda maintains a private schedule, performing at various parties and festivals throughout the United States and loves every minute of it. Working in Frankenmuth at the Bavarian Inn is a real blessing where Linda Lee gets to meet people from all over the world on a daily basis. She not only meets new friends, but since Bavarian Inn is about “gathering,” it is not unusual for guests to come back frequently to reunite with their families and friends. Of course, Linda is always included in their gathering by performing some of their favorite tunes for not only musical enjoyment, but for some happy sing-a-longs. She also loves her accordions, which she exclusively purchases from Peter Shearer’s wonderful accordion and music store which is called Accordion-O-Rama in South Amboy, New Jersey!
Beginning music lessons at the age of seven, Linda plays the accordion, clarinet and saxophone. She began entertaining at parties and banquets at the age of ten. After she married Roger Brown in 1967, and became the mother of three children, Linda organized her first professional band, “Linda Lee & the Golden-Aires.” When her children showed interest in music, they were invited to participate in band engagements under the name of “The Brown Family Singers.” Now, they are all grown up and have careers of their own, living in various cities in Michigan and Arizona, but still enjoy the music and polka friends that they grew up with during their younger years.
Linda also has a deep love for animals, especially dogs. She has four of her furry friends living with her and her husband. She is always is eager to come home to them. She calls them her “Polka Mascots,” as they love to listen to the polka music that is always playing in the Brown household. Linda also loves to rescue “unfortunate dogs” and give them a good home. Her latest adoption was Günter, who came from Cleveland one year ago. He was homeless and blind. Linda and Roger have given him the gift of sight, through the expert hands of Dr. David Ramsey of Williamston, MI, and now Günter is the family Frisbee Champion!!
This year was a special year in the Brown family, as 2007 marked the 40th Wedding Anniversary of Linda Lee and Roger. “It is quite a milestone” says Linda, who said “the time went by so quickly,” It doesn’t seem possible that it really was 40 years ago that they were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City, Michigan. “I still feel like I am twenty years old” says Linda. What a feeling! Her husband, Roger, is always by her side helping with the sound engineering, and of course, being at the driver’s wheel when they are “on the road.” In addition to Linda Lee’s schedule, Roger is the Star Laser Technician for the nightly Laser Show at Frankenmuth River Place, plus he is also an Inventory Manager at Home Depot.
“Music is my life and music is a gift from God” says Linda, who is also a disc jockey on three different, weekly, polka programs. Her longtime partner in radio, and also a member of her band, Bill Anders, is always by her side on stage and in the radio studio. She calls him her “right hand man.” He is not only a professional radio broadcaster, but he is also a music major and violinist in the Midland Symphony Orchestra. “Wild Bill,” as he is affectionately known, also helps Linda with her musical arrangements and programs. Together, Linda Lee and “Wild Bill” have 55 combined years in broadcasting. You can see Linda Lee and her band from time-to-time with additional members Johnny Sversko, drums, Darryl Schmitz, tuba, trombone, accordion and keyboard and John Shollack, accordion.
